The expansion of the Jean Cote community hall has gone quicker than expected, thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Local Actors Having Fun Troupe.

“They worked so hard,” say Real Sasseville, president of the Jean Cote Cultural and Community Development Association.

LAHF Troupe raised over $44,000 from their 2016 performance, he adds, which went toward building improvements. The building was expanded on the north side in the fall of 2015.

Sasseville discussed this as part of his report during the society’s annual meeting on April 12. Sasseville also credited the LAHF Troupe volunteers who come from other communities, including Donnelly, Falher and McLennan.
Other topics he discussed included the outdoor skating rink.

The new building is nearly complete, which includes a storage space inside for a Zamboni that the society obtained from the Village of Nampa.

Other issues dealt with during the AGM included approving the president’s report and treasurer’s report.
Sasseville is asking Jean Cote residents to join him in the evening of April 20 for a community cleanup. Everyone is to meet at the community hall at 7 p.m. and garbage bags will be provided.
