SPOTLIGHT – In the Woods Animal Rescue needs your help

by Spotlight Staff

The following information is taken from the Facebook page of In the Woods Animal Rescue, based in Marie Reine.
“We are a non-profit animal rescue and adoption organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals.
“As a No-Kill animal rescue, we respond in an expedient and professional manner. We ensure that they receive the best care in order to bring them up to maximum potential health both physically and emotionally.
“They are rehabilitated and/or trained if need be, then ultimately placed in a compatible loving and forever home. In The Woods Animal Rescue symbolizes the unique and lasting ways that animals touch the human spirit. Each adoption will be a living tribute to the memory of those we have lost.
In The Woods Animal Rescue works with ARTS, Animal Rescue Transfer System as well as other rescues and shelters which cover a very large area.”
This non-profit organization’s mission is to provide a safe environment, while promoting integration and physical activity, and focussing on individual needs. They also thoroughly interview potential adopters utilizing two or more methods (i.e., written application, phone interview, home visit, face-to-face interview) with the goal of placing all rescue animals in homes that are breed-appropriate and specifically appropriate to each individual animal.
Other mandates include, but are not limited to:
* Educating the public in spay/neuter, proper vetting and proper training of their pets.
* Understanding certain misunderstood breeds.
* Petitioning people to adopt from the thousands of homeless animals available in lieu of purchasing from pet stores or breeders.
* Hosting awareness seminars.
