A proposed calendar for the 2017-18 school year for High Prairie School Division is under study with comments from parents and students welcome.
At its regular meeting Nov. 16, trustees reviewed and approved the calendar survey that has been posted on the website hpsd48.
“We want your input on the 2017-18 school calendar,” says Tammy Henkel, who chairs the board.
“You can access the survey on our website and social media sites.”
This survey will end on Jan. 19.
HPSD will also send the survey to superintendents of neighbouring school jurisdictions such as Holy Family Catholic Regional Division, with local schools in High Prairie and McLennan.
Trustees also heard a presentation on the division’s literacy framework and the two assessment models that are being utilized to establish benchmarks for student literacy within the division.
“The pre-assessment has been completed for all students across the division; the post assessment will be completed in the spring,” Henkel says.
Information was presented by HPSD literacy lead Jenna Billard and Treva Emter, supervisor of instruction.
Trustees approved an updated policy on the role of the board as policy review continues.
“The board has been thoroughly reviewing all policies and has been referencing best practices from other school divisions’ policies,” Henkel says.
