The staff of High Prairie School Division was honoured at the annual long-service awards night on May 27 in High Prairie.

More than 90 staff members were celebrated for their years of service to the division.

The long-service awards is one way that the HPSD board of trustees pays tribute to the division’s staff and recognize their hard work and dedication.

“Tonight, the board of trustees will be honouring those staff who have given 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 30 and yes even 35 years of service to HPSD,” says Supt. Laura Poloz.
“Your loyalty provides us with the ability to inspire young learners, lead them with your knowledge and experience, and send them out in the world where they can achieve to their highest level.”

A total of 15 retirees were recognized at the event, many of whom gave their entire working career to High Prairie School Division.

“This evening we will also be saying good-bye to our retirees,” Poloz says.
“Please accept our heartfelt appreciation for your dedication and commitment to High Prairie School Division.
“Congratulations to all award recipients and a special thank-you to our retirees for your years of service and dedication to quality public education at High Prairie School Division.

Donnelly Georges P. Vanier School teacher Kristen Blanchette was also congratulated as one of 20 recipients of the 2016 Excellence in Teaching Award. Presented by the Ministry of Education, the awards recognize outstanding Alberta teachers, honour creative, innovative, and effective teaching, focus public attention on the teaching profession, and involve Albertans in celebrating teaching excellence.
