The Smoky River Runners Track and Cross Country Club, McLennan Royal Purple Elks and the McLennan Recreation Board are collaborating on a Family Day “Frosty Family Fun Run” event.

The Frost Family Fun Run, featuring a 2.5K and a 5K course, will kick off at the Elks Hall in McLennan at 1.pm, 30 minutes after the Hall opens at 12:30pm.

The first 50 runners to complete either the 2.5k and 5k distances will be eligible to receive finisher badges.

Everyone is welcome to participate at his or her own pace by either running or walking or alternating by doing a little bit of both.

An adult must accompany children under 7 years of age.

Families are encouraged to come out and enjoy the outdoors on the Kimiwan Lake trails.

To add to the fun, contests will be held for the family with the most participants, the family with the fastest combined finishing times, the family who matches the best and the family with the loudest family cheer.

If someone does not have family in the area, they should feel free to join with friends and participate as a family.

Those wishing to participate can register in advance by emailing smokyriverrunners@gmail.com or in person at the Town of McLennan office.

For all other enquires about the Family Day run, call Michelle Phillips at 780-837-6722.
