The golf season wrapped up for junior high and senior high students in September, with some bringing home medals or placing high in their respective categories.
The junior high students competed in in a zone tournament in Fairview on Sept. 26, with several winning silver in the team category.
The high school zones were held at the High Prairie and District Golf Club on Sept. 19. The GPV high school students won a team gold medal. Two on the team also won individual medals – Hailey Turcotte, gold; and Kennedy Turcotte, silver.
Kyle Leger and Mitchell Wolfe participated in the High Prairie tournament, as well, playing as individuals, but they didn’t qualify for further play.
The three senior high girls, including Camille Pele, also qualified for provincials, held in Medicine Hat on the weekend of Sept. 26-27.
“The girls found the conditions difficult at time, and they just missed out for the bronze medal in the team event,” says coach David Pedden.
However, Kennedy Turcotte placed 15th overall and Hailey Turcotte placed 17th overall, in a field of 61 girls from around province. Pedden is very pleased with their placements in this level of play.
