The competition was intense, but the GPV Vipers senior girls’ volleyball managed to bring home a silver medal from Edmonton a couple of weeks ago.

Coach Dave Morin is pleased with his team’s performance.

“We’re happy with the progress were making,” he says. “Something clicked that weekened. The girls really started playing as a team.”

The boys’ team travelled with them to M.E. LaZerte High School in Edmonton for the Voyageur Invitational, a AAA tournament, during Oct. 13-14.

The GPV girls’ team played in a pool of five teams. They finished with a 3-1 record the first day and 2-1 record for the second, to win the silver medal.

The boys’ team finished third overall in their pool, and lost in the quarter-final.

Still, Coach Darcy Servant gives kudos for their efforts.

“I was very satisfied with how they play,” says Servant. “They played very well.”

Both teams travel to Fairview during Oct. 27-28 for the Sean Henry Invitational. Then the girls’ team travels to Boyle during Nov. 3-4.

The Peace Classic will be held in Peace River during Nov. 9-10.
