Georges P. Vanier’s senior boys’ curling team headed to the ASAA High Schol Provincial Championships in Edmonton this past weekend.

The team consists of Luc Blanchette (skip), Dylan Desharnais (third), Adyn Ouellette (second) and Derrick Brochu (lead).

They played at the NWASAA High School Provincial Championships in Fairview during the weekend of Feb. 21-22.

They came out of round robin play with a 1-2 record. However, they defeated Beaverlodge in semi-finals. Then they advanced to championship game to play against Manning, but came up short.

“They put up a very good fight against the team from Manning,” says Coach Dave Pedden. “The scores were back and forth until the sixth end, when Manning pulled away from them.”

Nonetheless, the boys were pleased with their second place finish, Pedden adds, which allowed them a buy-in for the provincials.

Look for a story about their trip in a future edition of the Express.
