GPV recognizes individual athletes and teams at Colours Night

To qualify for this award, these students had to participated in at least three sports during their high school years. Each recipient has their name engraved on the award and they also received a duffel bag.

It was Colours Night at Georges P. Vanier on June 9, as coaches recognized individual athletes and teams for their efforts throughout the school year.

Staff served a dinner for students and their families in the junior high gym.

The Colours Night award ceremony was held in senior high gym.

Each coach offered their thoughts about their team’s performance during the school year. They also presented certificates of recognition to several students.

Several team banners were unfurled during the award ceremony:
. 2015/16 Junior High Badminton Divisional Champions.
. 2015/16 Junior High Girls Volleyball Divisional Champions.
. 2015/16 Senior High Golf Zone Champions.
. 2015/16 NWASAA 2J Boys Volleyvball Sportsmanship Award.
. 2015/16 NWASAA 2A Girls Volleyball Sportsmanship Award.

The top junior and senior high athletic awards were also presented:
. Shayna Yaremko, top junior high female athlete.
. Brayden Heckbert, top junior high male athlete.
. Jennifer Mader, top senior high female athlete.
. Eric Anctil, top senior high male athlete.

The Flying ‘V’ award was presented to five students:
. Eric Anctil.
. Meagan Aubin.
. Eden MacInnis.
. Jennifer Mader.
. Taylor Wolfe.

Each student’s name is engraved on the Flying ‘V’ Award. All of them received a GPV-labelled duffel bag as well.

The recipients participated in at least three sports during their high school years to qualify for the award.
