Village of Girouxville signs lease agreement with local sports club

During their meeting on April 16, the council for the Village of Girouxville passed a motion to sign a lease agreement with the Girouxville Sports Club for three years.

Council also approved a motion to provide a letter of support to Smoky River Transportation for MLA Marg McCuaig-Boyd.

Smoky River Transportation is seeking money from the provincial government.

Street resurfacing
Council approved the tender of Ruel Bros. Contracting to do the street resurfacing in Girouxville at a cost of $475,400.00.
The work will be done along 48th Street and it will consist of road base, paving and other work.

Regional Asset Management Plan
Council approved Beairsto & Associates Engineering Ltd. as the contractor for the municipality’s Regional Asset Management Plan. The Village of Girouxville has received $50,000 for the project.
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities is providing a total of $250,000 for asset management plans in the region.
The M.D. of Smoky River No. 130, the Town of Falher, the Town of McLennan and the Village of Donnelly are the other partners in the project and they will receive $50,000 each as well.

Financial matters
Council reviewed the draft 2017 financial statements and passed a motion to accept them as presented.
Council also passed a motion to appoint Sylvain & Company as the auditor for 2018.
Finally, council authorized a tax agreement with a property owner, for their property taxes in arrears.
