This year has been a bit of a struggle to make Smoky Lanes Bowling profitable, but management and staff have done almost everything possible to bring in customers.
This was part of Ryan Roy’s report at the Girouxville Sports Club’s annual general meeting on Nov. 21. Roy is the president of the club, which oversees the operations of Smoky Lanes Bowling.
Roy also says, donations didn’t flow in as easily as in previous years.
“But, on the plus side, we did get three of the four main sponsors back on our bowling sponsorship wall, along with a few other generous small donations,” he adds.
Many tournaments were held during the year and they are making strides to make them even better.
In the last month, Lynne Florence took over management of the bowling alley from Diane Dentinger.
“With a new manager comes new ideas and there will be bumps in the road. With all new positions, we feel that we have made strong steps forward,” says Roy.
“In the next up and coming year, we feel we will be in the position again and make strides to be a leader in the Girouxville community.”
Following Roy’s presentation, the board approved his report and the minutes of the 2015 AGM. The board also reviewed and approved the 2016 financial statement.
Three new board members were also approved – Diane Doran, Raymond Dallaire and Victor Gagnon – with one vacancy to fill at press time.
