Smoky River fire chief Marcel Maure is reminding the public that permits are required in fire protection areas.
The fire chief also says Smoky River Fire and Rescue would appreciate notification of controlled burns in non-permit areas so that they don’t receive false reports from the ranger towers.
The fire chief delivered his monthly report for March to the M.D. council during their meeting on April 12.
There were 15 calls for service: eight medical calls, three residential monitored alarms, two STARS landing and two requests for other service. Smoky River Fire and Rescue has 40 volunteer firefighters. Also, the department has acquired a second-hand utility truck, and he is determining what it will be used for.
