The golf season has opened and the Smoky River Regional Golf Course in McLennan got down to business with a four-ball tournament on May 14.
“It’s a season opener to get everyone in the groove,” says player Doug Chalifoux.
Twenty-seven people played, with eight teams of four players and one three-person team. Many players were from out of town. The cost was $50 per person and included 18 holes of golf and dinner.
The prizes consisted of a men’s and women’s closest to the pin, long drives and the longest putts. The winners:
. Longest putt, Flo Willier.
. Closest to the pin, Matthew Cunningham and Brenda Tulloch.
. Longest putt, Arnold Gauchier Junior.
. Long drive, Travis Cunningham.
. Long drive, Denise Lamouche.
. Longest putt, Richard Laboucan.
Each prize was $20.
