February 20 was Family Day in Alberta, and several communities around the region had their own activities to mark the event.
In Donnelly, the local recreation society held their event at Regalo Park. It featured hot dogs, hot chocolate, sliding from snowpiles and wagon rides around the community.
“It’s to create involvement and awareness of our society,” says Pauline Therriault, president of the Donnelly Receation Society.
Following the event at Park Regalo, families took advantage of the free skating at the Guy/Donnelly Sportex.
In Jean Cote, Family Day was held at the outdoor rink. Hot dogs, chili and other items were served as part of the event. There were also draws for prizes.
The Jean Cote Community Centre hosted the event.
There was also free public skating at the Falher Regional Recreation Complex in the afternoon.
