Falher council approves trade show agreement with SARDA

During their meeting on Sept. 12, the council for the Town of Falher approved an agreement that will allow the Smoky Applied Research and Demonstration Association to use the Falher Regional Recreation Complex for their trade shows in 2017 and 2019.

First reading of MDP
Council approved first reading of the Municipal Development Plan, under Bylaw No. 16-05.
Council has scheduled a public hearing for their next meeting on October 11.
It will be advertised in the Smoky River Express.

Option to buy skate sharpener
Council approved a motion for the purchase of a skate sharpener for the FRRC, if required.

Council also passed a motion to have administration work on an agreement to utilize the campground for off-season RV storage.

Business licence fee
Council agreed to keep the municipality’s business licence fee at $100 per year.

Peace officer services
Council wishes to extend the agreement it has with the Town of High Prairie, to use their peace officers for bylaw enforcement.
The Town of Falher, the Village of Donnelly and the Town of McLennan are expected to make a presentation to High Prairie town council about the matter.

ATCO franchise fees
Council agreed to continue to keep the franchise fees for ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric as they are, for 2017.
