Ecole Providence held its Terry Fox Run on September 16. The event was not a fundraiser but the occasion was used to inform the students about Terry Fox.
The kids learned about his courage, his dedication to raising money for cancer research and ultimately how he left an enduring legacy that has developed into an annual international undertaking that continues what he began before dying of cancer on June 28, 1981, at the age of 22.
Having made posters commemorating Terry Fox , the younger Ecole Providence kids marked the occasion by running laps around the school yard, while the Grades 3 to 6 students followed a route from the school to the McLennan playground by the H.W. Fish Arena and back to the school where all the students enjoyed ice cream at the conclusion of the event.
