Ecole Providence held its annual back to school barbeque on Thursday September 8. Parents, teachers, community members and students enjoyed a hotdog supper, trimmings, coffee, juice and ice cream while having an opportunity for everyone to get acquainted.

“The students really look forward to the evening of the barbeque, they have great expectations. They look forward to having their families visit their classroom and see the work that they have been doing,” says Ecole Providence principal Krista Veitch. “The students have such a nice sense of proprietorship when showing off their school.”

A perennial highlight of the Providence back to school barbeque is the prize bingo for both adults and children.

“It is such a fun event and after supper, while the kids run around or play in the bouncy castle in the gym, parents and teachers get to know each other and parents have a chance to voice any concerns they may have,” says Veitch. ”I find the parents leave with a clear understanding of how much staff care for adn value the students.”
