On November 8, students and staff at Ecole Heritage honoured veterans and those who have passed on, as part of the school’s Remembrance Day service.
The event was held in the gym, opening with a march of the flags and several students put together the word ‘Paix’ or ‘Peace’ in French, on the wall. The word was made from several sheets of paper, with poppies depicted on each.
A group of students made statements about Remembrance Day and ‘The Last Post’ was played from a YouTube video. Some students also performed songs.
Paul-Emile Maisonneuve, a veteran of the Second World War, attended the event. Maisonneuve landed on Juno Beach in France during the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944.
