On February 18, Krystina Dubrule owner of Du North Designs presented Pauline Therriault of Falher & Area Beautification & Leisure Activities Society (FABuLAS), with a cheque for $630.
In August 2015, FabULAS put on a tea party fundraiser at the Smoky River Regional Golf Course and Du North Designs staged a fashion show as part of the evening’s entertainment. Following the event, Du North donated 30 percent of its sales for the following week to FABuLAS.
“It was a great collaboration between business and community, and the fashion show was something different, not something we get in this area what so ever,” says Therriault.
“The tea party and fashion show held towards the end of summer, created an excellent opportunity for back-to-school shopping and a chance for people returning to work to update their wardrobe.”
For some time, the primary focus of FABuLAS is the Richardson Pioneer Spraypark, developed as part of the Honey Capital Park rejuvenation project in Falher.
The 4-year plan includes the spray park, the new beehive tower, and infant playground, outdoor exercise equipment, walking paths, and a skate park.
FABuLAS’ mission is to create an environment that enriches the quality of life, a facility that not just kids but everyone in the community can enjoy.
The park rejuvenation project, a huge venture for a volunteer organization, is now nearing completion, costing an estimated $900,000-plus to realize.
Although the facility is just about complete, Falher Town Council has not yet announced a date for the grand opening, which is expected to happen sometime in summer 2016.
