Construction work continues on the lift stations for Guy and Jean Cote. The buildings for both should be completed in the next couple of weeks. The piping, plumbing and pumps will be installed later, and these projects must be completed by March 2019.
Kevin Cymbaluk, the director of operations for the M.D. of Smoky River No. 130, highlighted this as part of his report to council during their meeting on November 14.
Recommendations regarding the old High Prairie bridge have been drafted and the partners in the project – the M.D. of Smoky River No. 130, Big Lakes County, the M.D. of Greenview and Alberta Transportation – are now reviewing them. They will develop a final recommendation and funding proposal over the next couple of months.
Cymbaluk also noted that the public works department continues to work on disaster recovery program appeals and the M.D. wants to meet with Alberta Municipal Affairs over the issue.
The Alberta Government has turned down the M.D.’s request for financial assistance regarding all the flood damage that occurred in the region last winter and spring.
