Donnelly council briefs – February 19

Councillor Lyle Audet, being acclaimed took the oath of office.

Jean Sylvain of Sylvain & Company presented the Audited Financial Statement for 2018, and it was later approved by council as presented. Council also appointed Sylvain & Company as the auditors for the 2019 physical year.

Council have authorized a representative, Mayor Lanctot to attend the ACFA Flag Raising ceremony on March 1st, 2019.

Council reviewed their committee appointments with the new Councillor, changes were as follows:
Smoky River Regional Economic Development Board – council appointed Deputy Mayor Labrecque
Guy Donnelly Sportex – council appointed Councillor Stenhouse
Smoky River Regional Water Management Commission and Smoky River Waste Management Commission – council appointed Councillor Stenhouse and Councillor Audet
Emergency Management Committee – council appointed Councillor Audet and Councillor Stenhouse
Smoky River Regional Council Committee – council appointed Mayor Lanctot and Deputy Mayor Labrecuqe.

Council approved to send Councillor Audet and any other councillor who wishes to take the Munis 101 course.

Council will apply for the Community Generation Capacity Building Program grant to do a feasibility study for small scale green initiatives for the municipality’s facilities, and partner with Guy Donnelly Sportex Society for the arena.

Council approved to send letters of support to the M.D. of Smoky River #130 for their application to the Community Generation Capacity Building Program for their two applications. One for the Little Smoky Ski Hill facility, and the other for the Smoky River Emergency Services Fire Hall, to reduce their energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

Council approved to send a letter of support to the Town of Falher for their application to the Community Generation Capacity Building Program for their municipal buildings, Falher Regional Recreation Complex, and Falher Public Library; to reduce their energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

Council has tabled the decision purchase a community membership to the Smoky River Regional Golf Course, until the budget is finalized.
