Do you know a local kid who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve his/her community?
Then why not nominate one for the 17th annual Great Kids Award!
The award recognizes kids for making positive contributions to their communities in the face of adversity.
This year, the Great Kids Award highlights kids who have made positive contributions while overcoming challenges, such as living with an illness, standing up against bullying or other difficult life circumstances.
“Alberta’s kids deserve recognition because they are leaders to their peers and great examples to all Albertans. I encourage Albertans to recognize young leaders for making positive contributions to their communities in the face of adversity, and standing up for what they believe in,” says Alberta Minister of Human Services Irgan Sabir.
High Prairie’s Brandon Stewart was a Great Kids Award winner in 2008.
Nominations can be made by visiting www.greatkids.alberta.ca or calling [780] 415-8150. You may call toll-free by first dialing 310-0000.
The awards are sponsored by Fantasyland Hotel, where the spring awards ceremony is held to recognize the 16 award recipients from the ages of 5-18 years. Recipients and their families or caregivers also enjoy a night’s stay at the Fantasyland Hotel and receive a West Edmonton Mall attractions pass.
The nomination deadline is Dec. 16.
