Presentations
Since the meeting was held at the École des Quatre-Vents, the principal and the school council were invited to meet with Board. The President of the School Council, Mrs. Julia Martin, presented a report the Council’s activities, successes and challenges of. Mrs. Linda L’abbé, principal, and Mrs. Suzanne Shimoon, preschool educator, made a special presentation about the school garden.
Mrs. Linda L’abbé took the opportunity to present the parent involvement awards received from ACELF: “Mordicus” Award to Isabelle Marois and the “Committed Francophile” award to Julia Martin.

Superintendent of Schools
Trustees congratulated Mrs. Brigitte Kropielnicki, Acting Superintendent, who has been appointed Superintendent of Schools as of May 1, 2016 to July 31, 2020.

Treasurer/Operations Manager
The Board confirmed the nomination of Mrs. Joséa Gagnon to the position of Treasurer /Operations Manager from April 7, 2016, to March 31, 2017.

2016-2017 School Calendar
The School Board approved the dates for the 2016-2017 School Calendar. These include:
August 29, First Day – STAFF.
September 1, First Day – STUDENTS.
September 23, CSNO Staff Day.
Dec. 19 – Jan. 2, Winter Break – ALL.
April 3 to 7, Spring Break – ALL.
June 24, Last day – GRADES 1 – 9.
June 29, Last day – GRADES 10 – 12.
June 30, Last day – STAFF.

2016 CSNO Bursary
The School Board is offering the CSNO Bursary of $800. This bursary recognizes the efforts of a CSNO graduate who achieves superior academic results and contributes to his or her school community. The deadline for submitting an application is April 29, 2016. The form is available at www.csno.ab.ca

Trustee Reports
FCSFA – Mrs. Sylvianne Maisonneuve and Mrs. Chantal Monfette attended the FCSFA Board of Directors meeting on March 4, 2016. The FPFA presented a progress report pertaining to its service agreement with the FCSFA. Trustees expressed their disappointment at the poor results in regards to the services provided in the North West region. The Board wants to ensure that the financial resources allocated to the agreement with the FPFA meet the needs of families in our area.
Mrs. Monfette, Mrs. Maisonneuve, and Mr. Breuls de Tiecken, trustees, as well as Mrs. Brigitte Kropielnicki, Superintendent, participated in the annual FCSFA Symposium in Edmonton on March 4 and 5, 2016.
ACSTA – Mrs. Sylvianne Maisonneuve participated in the ACSTA Board of Directors evaluation and meeting on February 11 and 12. She presented the CSNO’s report.
ASBA – Mr. Mario Paradis attended the ASBA Zone 1 meeting March 9th in High Prairie, as well as the flag-raising at ENF on March 4th. Mr. Paradis reminded Trustees that the CSNO is hosting the next Zone 1 meeting which will take place on May 11th at the St-Isidore Cultural Centre.

Acting Superintendent’s Report
École des Quatre-Vents:
At the request of Alberta Infrastructure, two architects, as well as engineers made a site visit to École des Quatre-Vents in Peace River in order to assess the physical condition of the building.A report of this visit will present the actual, specific and urgent needs of the school.

École Nouvelle Frontière – Modernization:
The modernization project at École Nouvelle Frontière in Grande Prairie is almost finished.
Students have begun their courses in the new wing and the landscaping will be completed as soon as conditions permit. The inauguration will take place in May.

Next board meeting
The next CSNO board meeting will be held on April 18, 2016, at 10 a.m., at École Nouvelle Frontière in Grande Prairie.
Also please note, April 18 will be a Professional Development Day for teachers.
