The Alberta Summer Games proved to be a little overwhelming for Cole Bremont, given the competition he saw and had, but this Manatees swimmer would compete again if he was allowed to.
“I was really nervous (competing),” says Bremont.
“But I would do it again if I could. It’s been the best experience of my life so far.”
The games were held in Leduc during July 14-17. Bremont was one of several 14-year-old boys from Zone 8 to compete at the games.
It was Zone 5 that caught Bremont’s attention, as they had the top swimmers in his estimation. His rankings from the games were as follows:
. 50-metre freestyle, with a time of 31.59 seconds and placing seventh overall, with an improvement of 0.81 seconds.
. 100 Min., with a time of 1:28.46, placing seventh overall, with an improvement of 9.21 seconds.
. 100-metre freestyle, with a time of 1:13.04, placing eighth overall, with an improvement of 1.91 seconds.
. 100-metre butterfly, with a time of 1:27.82, placing sixth overall, with an improvement of 6.36 seconds.
. 200-metre freestyle relay, with a time of 1:59.37, placing sixth overall, with an improvement of 0.63 seconds.

. 50-metre butterfly, wtih a time of 37.31 seconds, placing ninth overall, with an improvement of 2.39 seconds.
Although Bremont didn’t win any medals, he is pleased with his improved times. Moreover, he encourages all competitive swimmers to try for the next Alberta Summer Games in two years.
