A dinner, birthday cake and highlights of the past year were part of the Club Etoile’s annual meeting in the evening of Oct. 26.
Following the dinner, President Cecile Brulotte announced the birthdays of members for August, September and October.
The meeting was held next and, although they didn’t have enough members present for a quorum, a motion was passed to continue.
Brulotte welcomed everyone and offered a moment of silence for deceased members.
Brulotte also noted 117 members have renewed their memberships and encourages those who haven’t paid, to contact board members and pay.
New members are encouraged to join, with only 45 years of age being required to join.
“We definitely need younger members, as we are losing some of our older members, either moving away or unfortunately passing on,” says Brulotte.
“Recruiting members is getting to be very difficult. Therefore, we need your assistance to encourage your older children and friends to join us.”
You don’t have to be a member to participate in their Fun Day and crib tournaments. If possible, bring a partner.
Schedules for crib tournaments are available at the Club Etoile.
Brulotte adds that the club will hold an open house at 2 p.m. on Feb. 3, 2018. This will be to celebrate the club’s 45th anniversary, which was in August.
Coffee, cake and snacks will be served as part of the open house.
Brulotte concluded her report commenting it has been a great experience to work with the board and the many volunteers for the last seven years.
Her report was passed as presented.
Doris Ouellette, the secretary/treasurer, read the minutes for the 2016 annual general meeting. This document was also approved as read.
Ouellette also read her treasurer’s report and, following a question and answer session, it was passed as presented.
Near the end of the meeting, the board of directors for 2018 was announced:
. President Cecile Brulotte.
. Vice-President Simon Fontaine.
. Secretary/Treasurer Doris Ouellette.
Also, Henri Poirier was announced as a new director.
