Charges in recent robberies

On Feb. 21, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a male entered the RCMP detachment to speak to police about a routine traffic matter.

While in the building, police recognized male as the suspect in a recent occurrence involving a stolen vehicle.
The male was arrested without incident and further investigation revealed that he was the same male who committed six armed robberies in the Grande Prairie area between October 9, 2015 and December 6, 2015. Shane Wyatt Embree, 41, of Grande Prairie has been charged with: six counts of Robbery, six counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, two Counts of Disguise with Intent, Flight from Police, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Embree will appear in court in Grande Prairie on March 7.
