Community and non-profit groups that wish to develop an online presence should contact the Falher Library to access their new tool called Community Profile.

“It’s really powerful,” says Jackie Hockey, who works for the library.

“It’s a great way to connect with the community. It’s like an electronic community bulletin board, especially for newcomers, and it’s as current as people make it. It’s a great way to broaden your reach to others who may not be aware of what you have to offer.”

Community Profile works through The Regional Automation Consortion (TRAC), found at The website has an app you can download for your Android or Apple smartphone, too. TRAC is a partnership of several library systems, including the Peace Library System.

Hockey gave a demonstration of this new online resource at the Falher Library on Jan. 18.

She noted the library provides a form to fill out, including contact information. The online site can also accept the applicant’s GPS information.

The applicant will then receive a special card to access the site. The card is only for the Community Profile, it cannot be used to take out books for loan.

The Community Profile can be linked to social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
