FCSS Youth Programming Coordinator
Smoky River FCSS would like to introduce you to their second year of Backpack Buddies.
This program addresses a very real need in our region, this year two backpacks have been put together with the school supplies needed for two students in our region and a donation will be made to the Breakfast for Learning program at Ecole Providence School.
Ecole Routhier received a complete backpack filled with the school supplies needed for a Grade 5E student and Ecole Heritage for a Grade 1 student.
Ecole Providence School in McLennan no longer requires it’s students to provide their own school supplies. However, us at FCSS still felt it very important to help out the school and its students in any way we could so a monetary donation will be made to their Breakfast for Learning program which provides a nutritious breakfast to its students to ensure they have the best start to their learning day!
Colby Robbins, our FCSS Youth Programming Coordinator, spearheaded this great idea in 2015 to assist families in the region who may otherwise go without the needed supplies for their youth during the school year. The schools that received the backpacks were asked to discuss amongst their staff to ensure the backpacks are received by the students who gain the most use out of it for the school year.
All of us at Smoky River FCSS would like to wish all of the students a very successful 2016/2017 school year and we look forward to providing programming in all of the schools this year from Roots of Empathy, Healthy Youth Relationships, Babysitter Course, Home Alone and many other programs being facilitated by our Youth Programmer.
