An evening of winter dreams

Submitted by The Girouxville Enhancement Committee

Are you searching for a unique evening to spend with your friends, co workers or loved ones? The Girouxville Enhancement Committee would like to invite you to an evening filled with entertainment, great food, drinks and silent auction on Saturday, November 18th at the Girouxville Community Hall.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. and guests who attend will be served appetizers followed by a prime rib supper with all the fixings at 6:30 p.m. Supper will be prepared by Sam and his staff from the Esquire Hotel in Girouxville. Specialty drinks will also be available throughout the evening and a midnight lunch is also included.

As part of the silent auction, guests will be invited to bid on various donated items from generous individuals and businesses from our communities. Are you looking for a getaway or a gift for Christmas or a birthday? Our guests can view and bid on items such as jewellery, gift baskets, gift certificates, entertainment tickets and more. Different weekend packages for couples and families will also be part of the auction. Brand name and unique items (such as a Michael Kors purse) will be displayed and sold throughout the evening. Guests won’t want to miss their chance of winning any of these items.

The entertainment for the evening will begin with the comedian Scott Porteus from Edmonton. Scott is one of Canada’s youngest comedy veterans. He’s been on CBC, performed at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, has been a multiple finalist in Winnipeg’s Funniest Person with a day job, also a finalist in Laugh Shops Joke of Thrones competition and was also one of three comics chosen to represent Winnipeg in Canada’s Next Top Comic. He can be heard on Sirius XM and has toured all over Canada and the US.

The evening will continue with the husband and wife duo The Calverts from Airdrie, AB and will entertain the audience with their soulful harmonies and upbeat entertaining stage show. Between the two of them, they have opened for and shared the stage with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kenny Rogers, Georges Canyon, Aaron Pritchett, Motley Crue, Trooper and more. In addition to their well written savy original music, their diverse musical backgrounds allow them to cater to many of the crowds requests.

Tickets are $60 per adult and can be purchased by contacting Kim Girard at the Girouxville Coop 780-323-4292 or by phoning Alex Brochu at 780-323-3216. Details of the evening can also be viewed on Facebook. Deadline to purchase your tickets is Sunday, November 12th.

The Girouxville Enhancement Committee would like to thank their major sponsor, Farm Credit Canada in Falher, for their generous donation towards this event. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the Girouxville Outdoor Skating Rink Project.
