As organizations and families begin to make their plans for the Christmas season, here is a list of the many activities that will be held in December.
Things kick off at 7 p.m. on December 1, with the Chrismas Lightup at the Northern Alberta Historical & Railway Museum Society in McLennan. There will be ‘Old Time Christmas Carolling’ by the bonfire, with some hot chocolate and homemade cookies.
The CAFE Nord-Ouest will host their Christmas brunch at the Centre Chevaliers in Falher, beginning at 11 a.m. on December 2. Children’s activities will be part of this event.
The Villa Beausejour in Falher will host its Christmas party with residents and their families, beginning at 4 p.m. on December 8, with the dinner served at 6 p.m.
Community Santa Day will be held at the Elks & Royal Purple Community Hall, beginning at 11 a.m. on December 9. A hot lunch, sleigh rides, movies and popcorn, face painting and a games/craft corner will be part of the event.
Goodie bags and pictures with Santa will be available between 1:30-2:30 p.m. There will also be a draw for children’s door prizes at 2:30 p.m.
As the first of the school Christmas concerts, Georges P. Vanier will host its event 7 p.m. on December 13.
The Knights of Columbus will host their annual turkey bingo at the Paroisse Ste. Anne Parish in Falher, beginning at 2 p.m. on December 15. All proceeds will go to the Smoky River Transportation Program.
Ecole Routhier in Falher will hold two Christmas concerts. The French concert will be held at 7 p.m. on December 17, and the English concert will be held at 7 p.m. on December 18.
Also on December 18, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. students from GPV will be at the Villa Beausejour for their give-back event.
On December 19, beginning at 5 p.m., Ecole Providence in McLennan will host its Christmas dinner and concert.
Beginning at 11:45 a.m. on December 20, Ecole Heritage in Falher will host its Christmas lunch and concert.
Also, beginning at 6:45 p.m. December 20, beginning, a live Nativity Scene will be held at the Gazebo in the parking lot by the Falher IGA.
Coffee and hot chocolate will be available by donation, and all the proceeds will go to the Smoky River FCSS Christmas voucher program.
Also, at 9 a.m. on December 21, students at Ecole Heritage will attend a mass at the Paroisse Ste. Anne Parish in Falher. Then at 10:30 a.m., students in Grades K-2 will go to the Villa Beausejour for an event with the residents.
