The new season has begun for the Smoky River Manatees Swim Club and Senior Coach Natasha Smit sees some strong contenders.

“The swimmers are already showing progression and … we have a bunch of kids who are working towards provincials,” says Smit.

This year, the club has five coaches – Charlize Bremont, Cole Bremont, Blake Lambert, Jessie Sylvain and Nadia Sylvain.

“We’re pretty excited with the new coaches,” says Smit.

She is also impressed with the number of swimmers registered – 53 for 2018.

“This is one of the biggest groups we’ve ever had.”

The swimmers are in the Falher Regional Pool four nights a week and they will attend meets every Saturday.

Some went to Grande Prairie this past weekend for tryouts for the Alberta Summer Games.
