News release

On September 30, 2017 at approximately 3:00 am, Whitecourt RCMP received a call of an armed robbery at the Quality Inn Hotel in Whitecourt. A man walked into the hotel with what a witness believed to be a firearm. He was wearing a mask, white gloves and grey coveralls. The man left the business with an undisclosed amount of money and walked away in an unknown direction. No one was injured during the robbery.

The Whitecourt RCMP members with the assistance of the RCMP Police Service Dog Unit were able to locate nearby a bag containing some of the money and the air soft gun used in the robbery. A red Dodge Caliber was seen entering the parking lot and left shortly after. Members attempted to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful. It is believed the male was picked up by the Dodge.

The male is described as being approximately 5″6″ tall, 250 pounds, possibly Caucasian.

The Whitecourt RCMP and the Forensic Identification Section (FIS) continue to investigate.
