The Smoky River Palliative Care Society is launching “Light up a Memory” fundraiser for 2018.

The campaign will run from November 20, 2018 to January 1, 2019 and it offers a way for the public to remember their departed loved ones.

It is an occasion that offers a memorable way to start the Christmas Season and also offers great comfort to so many people.

The campaign focuses on raising funding and awareness to support the purchase of necessary equipment, resource material, and supplies for palliative care patients to make their last days as comfortable as possible.

It is also a support to the families who wish to stay with their loved ones, and have access to the palliative care rooms in acute care to rest.

A Christmas tree is placed in the lobby of Sacred Heart Community Health Centre in McLennan.

The memory cards at a cost of $10 each representing the memory of a loved one that has passed away are placed on the tree.

Donation boxes have been placed in the hospital and throughout the communities. Addressed envelopes are supplied at the back of each box.

Anyone wishing to remember a loved one can complete the information required and enclose the donation and place it in the n=box or send by mail.

Each donation of $10 or more goes towards a Memory Card placed on the tree.
