Lynn Florence
Director
What is FCSS?
WHAT do you do? Who are you?
As the director I am asked this question frequently in the region and beyond.
My reply to the question is that maybe they haven’t needed the services we provide, which doesn’t mean they may not need them but that means our job is to be more vocal in why we are here and why we are needed in the region.
When I was hired six months ago, I had no clue to what FCSS offered to the region and now I am in total awe of this program! I look back now and often say I wish I would have known, I could have used FCSS services when my husband and I had younger children.
I could have used food bank at times and get support coping with raising my children. The workshops could have been a blessing for my kids to take part in because we could not afford sports for our children. Smoky River FCSS is now opening a Kidsport chapter to help low income families afford sport activities for their children and hope to be running by this summer.
Smoky River FCSS is there to help everyone! We can offer supportive listen to help fill out forms, make phone calls or fax letters, we also engage social interaction at community events, workshops or trips.
Home supports was started in 2016 and is growing each month with new clients.
Our mandate is to develop locally driven preventative social initiatives to enhance the well-being of individuals, families and communities…….what this means is that FCSS is here for you!
Our Vision is to build strong communities through positive, caring interaction and mutual respect…….what this means is that FCSS is here for you!
So we look forward to the continued partnership with the Smoky River Express and having an opportunity to share with you, the assets of all of our programming and to explain who we are and what we do and to PUT OUR PROGRAMS IN FOCUS FOR YOU!
