The Smoky River FCSS’s summer youth program has wrapped for the year and enrolment was deemed a success.

“We had a pretty good turnout and a good group of children that came back and enjoyed the experience,” says Kristine Nolette, the youth program coordinator.

The program started on July 3 and finished on Aug. 16, running four days per week, with a different theme each week. The program was open to children age’s six to 12 and there was an average of 18 enrolled per week. For the last week, children participated in the ‘Fiesta’ at the Girouxville Community Centre, and were involved activities like making paper monsters and birdhouses, painting using Q-Tips, visiting the Girouxville Museum and playing mini golf in Peace River.

Nolette looks forward to hosting the summer youth program again next year.
