Swan Hills RCMP remind public to lock vehicles, remove valuables

Around Dec. 2, a 2017 Dodge Journey was stolen in Swan Hills.

However, it was recovered by Dec. 4.

As per a news release, the vehicle theft is part of an RCMP investigation into 12 vehicles being entered into located in various residential areas.

All vehicles with the exception of one had been left unlocked. Contents including but not limited to small change, a cell phone, sunglasses, gas cards, and a wallet were taken by unknown suspect(s).

The RCMP is reminding the public to do the following, to reduce the risk of theft:

1. Remove all Valuables – Out of sight out of mind approach.

2. Lock your Vehicle – The overwhelming majority of people reporting their vehicle was rummaged through or stolen stated their vehicles were unlocked.

3. Do not leave vehicles running. If you must leave it running, consider using a remote starter or club-like device to deter thieves.
