Peace Regional RCMP lay arson charges and solve dated investigation

Following a structure fire November 8th, 2017, which Peace Regional RCMP attended with the Northern Sunrise County Protective Services, and Peace River Fire Department, the RCMP have now laid an arson charge.

On November 8th, 2017 at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Peace Regional RCMP responded to a suspicious structure fire on Fair Grounds Road, on the outskirts of Peace River. Investigation by the RCMP, Northern Sunrise Protective Services in partnership with the Office of the Fire Commissioner led to the conclusion that the structure fire was as a result of human action. A suspect was identified and a 23-year-old resident of Peace River has been charged with one count of arson.

“We’re very fortunate there was no one injured, and no other structures severely damaged in this fire,” says Staff Sergeant Brent Meyer of the Peace Regional RCMP Detachment.
