Grande Prairie RCMP Officer Involved Shooting

On Tuesday December 4, 2018, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP encountered a vehicle near 140 Avenue and 99 Street in Grande Prairie. During the encounter, a confrontation occurred between the occupants of the vehicle and RCMP members that resulted in the serious injury of the driver of the vehicle, and in the direction that Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) investigate the circumstances surrounding that confrontation.

ASIRT has conduct of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the serious injury of the occupant of the vehicle. RCMP maintain conduct of the investigation into the criminal behaviour of the two occupants of the vehicle. Two occupants have been charged.

Raymond Andrew RODTKA (21) of Grande Prairie, Alberta is facing numerous charge, including atttempted murder x 2, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm x 2, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a firearm. Kevin Daniel TURNER (30) of Grande Prairie, Alberta is facing unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

They appeared in court on December 7.
