The Georges P. Vanier junior badminton team came home with medals and the banner from Wabasca on May 5, giving them an outstanding finish to the season.
“The kids were nervous, but they played extremely well,” says Coach Dan Turcotte. “This was the best of the season and they stepped up.”
The GPV junior badminton team played against 41 other schools during the junior badminton zones, competing in 11 categories and winning in eight, and placing first overall to win the zone banner.

SENIOR HIGH BADMINTON TEAM
Melodie Schaefer, the senior high badminton coach, took four players to the senior high tournament, held May 4-5 in Grimshaw. Those participating were Bobby Brochu, Chris Key, Kennedy Turcotte and Shayna Yaremko.
Key and Turcotte won bronze for mixed doubles on the B-side. Schaefer is pleased with all the players for their participation at the tournament.
These tournaments marked the end of the season for both teams.
