Fire department receives 26 calls for service in April

Fire Chief Marcel Maure give monthly report to the M.D. council during their meeting on May 9.

Smoky River Emergency Services received 26 calls for service in April, consisting of the following:

. Five medicals.
. Four motor vehicle collisions on the highway.
. One mutual aid.
. Four monitored alarms.
. One outdoor fire
. 11 others (flood assistance, etc.)

The fire department assisted the towns and villages with flooding as required.

The fire chief participated in an exercise with Birch Hills County. They activated their command centre and he acted as an evaluator. Also, 16 firefighters from the M.D. of Smoky River No. 130 and Northern Sunrise County participated in the wildland firefighter course.
