Smoky River Emergency Services received 20 calls for service in May.

Fire Chief Marcel Maure made his report to the M.D. council during their meeting on June 13. The breakdown for the calls for service is as follows:

. Six medical calls.
. Seven monitored alarms.
. Four outdoor fires
. Two public assists.
. One STARS landing.

The fire chief reminds the public to contact him for fire permits and to notify him of pending burns on private property, to help reduce the number of false alarms.

In other news, the fire chief and several firefighters will be at the 5 Star Golf Club this Saturday to host their Fire Smart demonstration and barbecue for residents.
