Smoky River Emergency Services handled 14 calls for service in December and they are broken down as follows:

. Five medical.
. Seven monitored alarms.
. Two motor vehicle collisions.

“It was an average month for calls,” says Fire Chief Marcel Maure, who gave his report to the M.D. council for their meeting on January 16.

He has also provided his annual report, and there were 210 calls for service in 2018:

. 64 false alarms.
. 71 medical.
. 25 fires.
. Four gas leaks.
. 16 public assists.
. Five STARS landings.
. 18 highway motor vehicle collisions.
. Six non-highway motor vehicle collisions.

Maure reminds the public to provide up-to-date contact information to their monitoring companies, to ensure the fire department doesn’t go out to unnecessary responses.
