BREAKING NEWS: Fire destroys vehicle repair shop in Donnelly

A vehicle repair shop in Donnelly, located at the corner of Gravel Avenue and 4 Street, has been totally destroyed by fire.

The incident occurred in the afternoon of Nov. 9. Smoky River Emergency Services, an ambulance and the RCMP responded.

Firefighters arrived on scene at approximately 12:20 p.m. and they contained the fire to within the building. The Village of Donnelly’s backhoe was used to open the walls, to assist with extinguishing the fire.

No one was injured in the incident.The business owner was already out of the building when they arrived, and no evacuation was ordered for nearby residents or the students and staff at Georges P. Vanier.

Fire Chief Marcel Maure says the cause of the fire was due to welding sparks igniting.

No other details were available at press time.
