Smoky River Family and Community Support Services is inviting needy individuals and families to apply for their Christmas Voucher Program.

Smoky River FCSS started accepting applications on November 15 and the last day to apply is December 10. Applications are available at all municipal offices in the Smoky River region, as well as the FCSS office in Falher. Crystal Marschner, the new director, notes the intention of the program.

“It enhances low-income individuals’ and families’ enjoyment of the holiday,” she says.

Last year, 223 individuals, including adults and children, were served by the program. Hence, this signifies the program’s importance to the region, she adds.

All applications are kept strictly confidential. Successful applicants will receive a voucher for groceries, which depends on the size of the family. Children under 18 years old will receive gifts as well.

Anyone wishing to donate unwrapped items to the program can take them to the FCSS office.

Also, The Red Apple store in Falher is holding a toy drive from November 17 to December 8, as part of the Christmas Voucher Program.

For more information, call Marschner at (780) 837-2220.
