Here are more photos of the 29th annual Golden Walleye Classic, held at Shaw’s Point Resort during the weekend of Sept. 2-3.

Look for a story and more photos of the event in the Sept. 13 edition of Spotlight.

Also, look for videos of the shotgun starts for 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Sept. 3, as well as for all of the cash payouts, on the Smoky River Express’ Facebook page.

Teams getting ready for the 7 a.m. shotgun start unloaded their boats long before the dawn.
Kevin and Toni Nivens were among 65 teams to participate in this year’s Golden Walleye Classic. They like the competition and enjoy the challenge of the tournament.
Pictured above are most of the prize money winners. Payouts were made for first to 20th place each day, plus for the overall weights of the two-day event. There were other payouts as well, including for the youngest participant.
Above, tournament chairperson Ken Sperling presents a cheque for $325 to Ben Bruens, the youngest angler of the tournament.
Rachel Shaler, left, Edna Measures record the walleyes’ weight as they come in. Shaler and Measures were among many volunteers to work for the 29th annual Golden Walleye Classic.
As each team came in with their walleye, a volunteer had to inspect the fish in the live wells to ensure they were in good health. Once that happened, a team member could take them to the weigh station inside.
