The McLennan Family Day on Sunday February 17 once again offered kids and families a fun, eventful day of spending time together while enjoying the numerous activities that began with the “Frost Family Fun Run,” at approximately 1 pm.

Following the Family Run, the day’s events continued with a free family skate at H.W. Fish Arena from 2pm to 3pm.

The prize bingo always draws a full house at the Elks Hall and this year’s event was no exception with both young and old trying their chances at winning one of the many prizes donated by local businesses and people in the community.

Free hotdogs, juice, coffee, popcorn and other snacks were available at the Elks Hall throughout the day.

The sleigh rides at 5 pm coincided with the lighting of the bonfires on Lakeview trails, and while the cold with the wind chill was daunting, the kids used the bonfires to warm up before heading off on another trip on the sled.

Hot chocolate was also available at the bonfire while everyone gathered around waiting for the fireworks, which began shortly after dark, at approximately 7.30 pm and offer an impressive 30-minute pyrotechnics display that was especially exciting for the kids.

McLennan Family Day celebrations stayed true to its motto: “The best of times are always found when friends and family gather around,” as February 17 was definitely one of those times.

McLennan Parks and Recreation Board who are one of its sponsors organize the Family Day celebrations.

Other sponsors are The Royal Purple, Town of McLennan, Dan the Stickman and McLennan Trade and Recreation Fair.
